This includes remixes, covers and original filk songs!
I'm still mega-impressed by Dan Bull's Dishonored Rap (BE CAREFUL - it's made out of SPOILERS). Probably not my favorite, but very high up on a very huge list. Anyone else wanna post their faves? :3c
*hits face on wall* HEHEHEHEHE Sorry I've been wanting to show off Miracle of Sound even more on here! http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/miracle-of-sound He's a really cool fellow that writes and composes songs about various games he likes. Most of the titles he does, as he IS on The Escapist, are new but that doesn't mean they aren't funny XD Some of my favorite tracks from him areeeee: Keep Drifting (Uncharted 3): http://miracleofsound.bandcamp.com/track/keep-drifting Little Sister (Bioshock): http://miracleofsound.bandcamp.com/track/little-sister Fire In Your Hole (Bulletstorm): http://miracleofsound.bandcamp.com/track/fire-in-your-hole
He's got a great talent for capturing the mood or atmosphere of the games he writes for.
He also has a personal site at Google Sites, but it's acting rather oddly: when you try to delve further into it, you get a save prompt. (I can avoid that and browse around using something like Links, but ... that's rather out of the way...) It's a shame -- there's more of his work on it including non-remix stuff, currently kind of inaccessible.
Passionate SAffron's Cave Story piano covers -- http://www.daydreamix.org/contents/cave/cave.html (the links under the rectangular heading to the right are it.) Had the title theme (first link) for an alarm clock tone at one point. Favourite cover is the one with an exclamation mark!
- Katabasis (Epitaph - Final Fantasy 6) by Forrest Powell
It's so freaking beautiful !
- Gobble, Snarf, Snap (Phantom Train - Final Fantasy 6) by XPRTNovice
Heck, just listen to my list of favorites from the Balance and Ruin album : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-Uv1b74NORXE6DBFsr3H7lViiqgEsmbe
- TPR's melancholy remixes (pretty relaxing overall) : https://www.youtube.com/user/phoenixrisemusic/videos You can also listen to his FF albums on Spotify.
- Secret Library Daguerreo (Final Fantasy 9) by Erutan :
The cute hand drawn and animated video is also a nice touch.
- You Don't Know Me (loosely based on Unforgettable Silhouette, FF9) by Erutan :
I do like when people get creative like this.
- Music Box theme (Silent Hill 2) by Erutan :
Link to her youtube channel (where you'll find more... like Radical Dreamers from Chrono Cross and one pretty Xenogears arrange) : https://www.youtube.com/user/katethegreat19/videos
- Gathering Stars in the Night Sky (Xenogears) by Dangerous Mezashi Cat :
It's a pretty nice arrange I only discovered recently. Honestly, I always prefered this track to Flight. Same melody sure... but it works better for me as a ballad, if we can call it that. Or maybe my problem is that no one ever managed to elevate the original rendition of Flight properly... not even the official orchestrated version from Myth (compared to the AMAZING recent Chrono arranged album, Myth feels kind of lacking... quite a shame).
- Ship of Regret and Sleep (Xenogears) :
It's just a slight remaster of the original. But it sounds good.
- Omen (Xenogears) :
A nice remaster that sounds a bit more like Xenosaga. It's funny.
And this guy's work on FF7's soundtrack, if you're in the mood to listen to a faithful improvement on the original's OST : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxAX2CW8tcpq9Sg-wrwSyQh_5gs-mMcOv
A lot of nice remixes, I should probably just listen to Balance and Ruin again...
Both Gathering Stars and Omen was new to me, I like them both and agree that Omen sounds more Xenosaga in this version.
I love Myth and was a bit disappointed by the Chrono album, at first. Then I listened to it ten more times and finally agree about the AMZING part. I still dream of a full album dedicated to Chrono Cross but this will do until then.
This is one remix of Promised Pain that I really like:
Another really great fanwork (that came out recently) : a Xenogears/Chrono Cross medley !
I'm hoping for more in the future (and the arranger really needs to get more popular considering the quality of his/her work).
EDIT :
Oh, and I just found this FF9 medley :
This is absolutely DOPE. I got goosebumps when it ended. Damn, I love this game.
They did other videos like this one for FF5, 6 and FF8 (the latter being particularly impressive... FF5 is cool too... but FF6 feels too short). Can't wait for a FF7 one (they've done a french horn medley of it but it's not the same... still good stuff).
