Big kudos for the link!
Looking at my previous post, it seems that I've given into ranting a bit too much. It almost may give someone an impression that I didn't have KOS-MOS in my party 24\7 throughout all three games :biggrin2:.

- It was indeed a very interesting read. I've especially liked the way the Title Drop is done in the epilogue. Also, the 'it's a strictly man-to-man talk' exchange is just so... earnest and cozy.
I've had a little trouble divining who Bugs was supposed to be (for some reason the idea to check upon the 'characters' section didn't come to me until after I've read through the story), but given the context I imagined him to be something of a Tachikoma.
Also, Alexei's look reminds me of that fanatic creep Dolf Lundgren played in the Johnny Mnemonic movie.

- It wasn't because of her gameplay effectiveness either - I've hoped to get more of that particular brand of deadpan sarcasm she shows so rarely. But it pains me that almost all parts between the beginning and the very end of her character development got lost somewhere along the way.
I mean, for example, her questioning whether 'pain will make her complete' comes absolutely out of nowhere and doesn't get any kind of follow up scene later. It is T-elos shouting about being finally complete if anything. (Unless I've missed something, of course. There is a certain part during Ep. I directly after the Woglinde incident in which she consistently all but shoos Shion out of the room everytime you try to see if her dialogue box got updated or not that goes completely unexplained for one).
About people consistently writing characters off:
- Spoiler:
- I've been reading a Something Awful FFVII LP by Elentor from time to time and I have been very much surprised by how much people have confessed they've bought into 'Cloud is emo' and some other prevalent character prejudices that suffuse that fandom.
It's not that I haven't seen such opinion before, but I always thought to myself that some people just tried to somehow connect the characters from FFVII's proper with their Advent Children counterparts (something I've considered a hopeless endeavour, but this is fanfiction, people are gonna do what they gonna do) and moved on.
Nowadays I think that my underexposure to the fanbase has saved me from being affected by the very same desease. Namely, peer pressure memory manipulation. I don't claim that I know and understand all there is to know and understand about FFVII, no. There were quite a few things I've forgotten, misunderstood or just plain missed entirely. But remaining on the very fringes of the fanwank I've managed to avoid swapping things in my head until they resembled the limitless bashing one can get a faceful of by simply googling a FFVII plot discussion.
