Xenosaga HD Remake/Remaster!

I mean, I do think there are some flaws in the games that I wish they'd had the time and budget to address, but as Kare pointed out, that's probably not gonna happen in this recurrence of the universe. ;P  I'd be content to see it released again in any format, tbh.  I'm just happy to see that so many people still care about it and/or are interested in playing it maybe for the first time.

Exactly. I'm still rather pessimistic about this working, especially since Harada has riled us all up before and it quickly dissipated, but I'll still fully support the movement. Who knows, it does feel like there is a bit more momentum than last time.

Now, mentioning this when everybody's busy and I am kinda useless in such things is...

One thing I think we'd need is more screenshots, video material and gifs made from it and such. When I google'd 'Xenosaga Ziggy episode 3 special attack animation' there was exactly one youtube video linked with bad quality and very short, barely discernable animation of the 'Penetrate' attack. That just won't do.  :pirate:

I'll try to see if I can record anything myself, but I have my doubts about being able to sustain stable fps and quality required.

I know there's a user on Tumblr called BurningAegis that's been doing a lot of gifs lately, and getting permission from them to host some of their gifs might be a possibility, but I've been really busy. I can add it to a to-do list, though. Maybe someone else could approach them?

Word, there have been a couple of folks doing Xeno-gifs on tumblr recently, and widescreen hacks and stuff. (Do we have anyone here who follows them, btw? I kind of just stalk the Xenosaga tag, so I dunno if I could approach them out of the blue. I could try, tho! ^^ )

Got my signature in as well. I don't have high hopes for things like this, but if it works out, then I'll definitely be really happy. Hopefully this will get enough exposure around the net to gather enough signs.

How many do you think Harada would need to warrant making it? Also I'm curious what system it would be for if it happens. If Namco doesn't want Monolith to make it, then it would likely appear on at least PS4, or PS4/XB1. If they have Monolith do it, then being owned by Nintendo would mean that it would be Wii U exclusive. It'll depend on what they wanna do with it if it's successful.

If they do it without Monolith, I wonder if they're going to see a cent of it. I wonder if they even receive any royalties for the Project X Zone games' appearances of XS characters... Either way, I'm really hoping Monolith gets credit and moola where credit and moola are due for this if this comes through. As its own entity, I think they've got a lot more chance of getting something than they did with Square and Xenogears' port to PSN.

To be totally honest, it will be very long to reach the 10.000 signatures. The pace of signature was very quick from 0 to 2000 (roughly 24 hours !), not bad from 2000 to 3000, but after 3000 it has decreased dramatically. The hype on the net about this is decreasing as well.

Xenosaga is not like Final Fantasy Type 0 (petition : Operation Suzaku) nor Xenoblade/Pandora's Tower/The Last Story (don't remember the name of the petition), whose petitions for western release were successful with more than 25 000 signatures.

However it makes me smile to see so much fans all over the world telling their love for Xenosaga on Twitter  :nice:

What's bothering me is that it don't seem that the Japanese fans are very aware of this (you can see the nationality of signers on the Avaaz petition). If anybody here could spread the info towards them by any means, I would be very grateful.

A few notes, though:
It looks like the link to Bandai-Namco's forums doesn't exist? Is it for member's only?
Having a video auto-play music at the bottom might not be a good design choice, especially for mobile users. Ia there a way to load it up but not have it auto-play? It's still good to have it there, especially if it's going to be updated every week.

Sigh... I have such nostalgia for Xenosaga at the moment. But the more time passes and looking at people's thoughts elsewhere make me so depressed. Not so many people actually care about Xenosaga (if it was Xenoblade or Final Fantasy, that would be another story entirely.. sigh). Not enough to get a remaster (which would be great for Europe for the most part, since only Episode 2 got released there) or revival. Maybe it was a dysjointed experience (mostly Namco's fault)... but... what an experience it was. There is so little of that in gaming nowadays  :cry2: and it won't get better. I miss it so much.
Somehow, I keep hoping like a fool that Monolith/Nintendo will eventually buy the rights to Xenogears and Saga back so they can revisit and complete both of them. The way it should be.

It's great to hear you guys will be promoting the petition in Japan! I'm a little distressed that it hasn't caught on over there yet, but there's always a hope. I do hope the rumors are true but the numbers aren't quite there yet, and it seems premature.

Sad thing is, this is the first time I heard about this petition and I'm a pretty die-hard fan--I just haven't been on the net socializing for a few years. College does that to you.  Signed the petition. The number looks pretty high, but I wonder if that's enough or that I'm super late to the party. Told my other Xenosaga-loving pals about it too and others that might be interested in that kind of game. Seems this was the first time they heard of it as well.

Basically, I do believe there is a lot of untapped resources out there, but then Xenosaga has never been properly publicized. Heck, if I hadn't randomly stumbled upon the first episode in a sale at a warehouse, I probably would have missed the train too.

HD remake would be awesome. If I can buy the FFVII HD remake, I can certainly do it for Xenosaga.

I'm beginning to wonder if it'd be more effective to petition Harada/Namco to give the rights to Xenosaga back to Monolith. I'm frustrated with the "money-is-the-only-thing-that-matters" attitude.

I do not know if this is feasible or not.
