Whoa, that is change way too fast. Maybe I'm just afraid of being abandoned."

I have to admit I have overreacted there. The main thrust of my neckbeard grumbling over the internet however - the feeling of the changes being totally unneeded - still remains.

It's like... Remember youtube? How much more simple and streamlined the interface was before the wave of changes in the recent years hit? How somehow each consequent change motivated by who-knows-why managed to make your everyday watching of videos more clunky and awkward (and glitchy) then the previous iteration?

There is something inherently irritating in people deciding to change something not out of any actual need but because 'it's been too long'. Or at least that's what I think.

^ Yeah, there always seems to be some knee-jerk backlash whenever a site changes its user interface. Part of that might just be people going "

Hey I was used to this thing and you changed the thing and now I have to deal with a different thing that I'm not used to :C "

but some of it is probably warranted, like with YouTube or iTunes. Oh god, iTunes is THE WORST at updates. I mean it's always been terrible but like it gets more terrible and broken every time a new version comes out. I had to stop downloading the updates because I didn't want it to get any worse.

I think it's partly because of things being changed just for the sake of tinkering with something, like you said, and it's pretty rare that I've seen an updated version of something that was actually substantially improved. That said, a site I use for work just updated its web app and actually fixed a lot of the issues I was having with the old one, and I like the new interface much better overall (so far). So I guess there's always an exception.
