Help me with an ending idea!

Ok, so I've got this fic and I need an ending for it. I thought I'd have plenty of time to think about it, but apparently I write too fast, the third of it is already done.

The fic is Shion x chaos, so to avoid an entirely tragic ending, I need both to be together somehow. Preferably alive.

The canon ending separates them. I'm all for Wilhelm's plan, but it's no better in this regard. Is there a third option that sounds realistic enough that it could happen in canon? Or at least semi-convincing...

Hmm, that is a good question! I guess it would depend on how long of a time span you want your fic to cover, and it might be kind of a stretch, but it's possible they could be reunited on Lost Jerusalem after the Elsa gets there?

How fast will they get to Earth? And er... maybe I misunderstood something, but isn't chaos kinda dead?

I have one idea. Or rather I don't know if I'm going to use it or not, but it would be good to know. Do we know how Wilhelm creates Testaments, and most importantly, is he the ONLY ONE who can do it? I suppose that would be one way for Shion to avoid death... or rather to die, but still function.

Good point! I think it was kind of left open-ended as to how long it would take to get to earth, depending whether the UMN got rebuilt soon enough to restore hyperspace travel or whatever.  I kinda forgot whether chaos technically died at the end or what--I just remember hearing him talk to KOS-MOS in a voiceover at the very end, so I figured he still existed in some form.  (It's been a while since I saw the ending, though, so I could be wrong.)

From what I recall, Wilhelm was keeping track of people with a "shining will," i.e. the potential to become a Testament, which included most of the main playable characters (actually, wasn't that given as an explanation for why Shion didn't turn into a gnosis?).  There's actually a bit at the end of Pied Piper when Voyager becomes a Testament through Wilhelm's intervention and then offers the same thing to Jan, but it doesn't really technically explain how Wilhelm does it or if he's the only one capable of bestowing that power on others.  So maybe there's room for creative license there?

I think chaos did die... he became a spirit or something. His body was gone.

So basically the canon ending is out of question, then. Unless he can choose to stay behind, but apparently it isn't possible, since he used up his power of anime in that ending and that (imho?) caused "death".

So Shion should strike a deal with Wilhelm. Creative license sounds fine ^_^

Dammit, I don't see what to do, yet. I suppose she could strike a deal beforehand and then deceive him by refusing to comply, however, that would create the worst ending possible. And it doesn't make sense, I don't see Shion, let alone chaos, being fine with leaving things as they were. With half the planets been gone and Gnosis attacking and all that. One feels too much guilt for that, another is too kind.

Oh I just thought of something extra...

Do we know how the time shift happened? Back when our guys teleported to the Miltia's past, who did it and how? Or is it... creative license again?

So we don't know anything about a time shift, right?

Oh well, whatever. I have an idea now. It's a bit unexpected, though, but at least it works. I'm proud of Shion. But I suspect that chaos wouldn't be very happy. His stupid solution matched his moral values best, it would be hard to come up with anything equal.
