Original character thread/original concept art

Has this thread been done yet?

If not, I guess title says all. Perhaps if you all are comfortable with it, show off some pictures of your original characters or concept art.
I'm interested if anyone has original concept designs.

And you're all lovely at drawing

I currently do not have any original character art because I have no idea what happened to it (probably threw it out but oh well)

I've personally never done original character art, considering my artistic skills and the fact that I never, ever practice, but I have designed clothing for various OC's and NPC's for others and for RP's, due to having been a fashion designer at one time. I seem more drawn to creating more fantasy/sci-fi clothing than I do modern clothing, so it turned out rather well. I may or may not share any on here, but great job for coming up with this thread, I wish I had thought of it.

I kind of have way too much stuff to put in this thread but I don't like any of it enough to put it up, as of yet. I'm working on a lot of fan-character things, though...does that still count or does the universe also have to be mine too?

With as much work as I put into my fancharacter stuff, it might as well be an original series. XD

I'm currently having issues with my main plot in my webcomic. Can't decide where to take it, unsure if I should introduce another romantic subplot. I did make a breakthrough with some new villains, though. Word to the wise - if you ever start writing a story allegorical to something that happened in your life, don't make the villains solely out of the people you're mad at. It just gets boring to write. I find writing about people who were never real a lot more interesting.

This is kind of old and I just stripped off the background layers I had on the original image to better show her outfit colouring...but hey guys meet Sihla. She's tough and protective and her favourite cuss word is "Mahfikye" which is her world's equivalent to "Motherf*cker/f*cking"

Aw yeeaaahhh, she looks awesome and badass! |3  I like how the costume design seems both practical and distinctive, really well suited for a tough character.  I'd love to see more of your work too! <3

I LOVE YOUR WEBCOMIC KAT. :3  I give you a lot of credit for how you've been handling the allegorical stuff so far, though I can imagine it would be hard to write at times.  Usually the only way I can approach anything relevant to my life is by making every character a collage of myself and, like, a bunch of other people I know, so things tend to come out scrambled.  (BTW, if you ever wanna discuss idears or anything you're feeling stuck on, lemme know~!  I'd be happy to listen!)

There's like three pages of junk in there, starting from like 2009 (I have even older iterations of this story dating back to when I was in college and high school, but they're probably not fit to see the light of day D: ).  At this point the story itself is just a bunch of terrible JRPG tropes awkwardly pastede together. :/ *hides under the bed*

She looks a little serious there to be a goofball, but I can definitely see the sarcasm leaking out of her. Are those belty-chaps things on her shorts!? HAWT ok gonna stop that was just a thing I'm into yup. Lily strikes me as a lady a little too rough with others, like the type that is so direct she comes off offensive to some. She looks tough though and I like her muchly :3 What's up with the tattoo or number things on her arms? Any significance you wanna expand on about that?

Oh and btw Stitched...Your work is great, so even though you feel like your stories and things seem like JRPG tropes put together, don't let that get you down if you sincerely care about a project. You were the one that said originality isn't really existant anyway. Estai's really cool anyway, and even though I don't really know anything about this particular story it looks cool, like a big collision of various universes and things.

Yeah, this was kind of a rough idea of her character. The writing on her sleeves says "death of god" in enochian because my idea has some religious aspects. I was thinking of removing the sleeves and putting the writing on the back of her top because sleeves under sleeves seems a bit...err...

Wilhelm, I love your design for Lily too! :3  Her outfit is badass and I like the idea for the writing on her sleeves.  Tough sarcastic characters are the best (and fun to write for).  I'm also excited to see the rest of your designs when you finish them! :>

And Wilhelm, it's been a while since I've seen your art! I like your design for Lily. To be fair, I always draw all my serious characters with silly/happy faces.

As for my own work, I've been trying to let Knightface grow like a vine a little bit more. Trying to over-organize it has led to it turning a little grey. I still need to finish a little more worldbuilding before I really go on, tho. I keep on introducing new characters only half-designed. Here's where I keep my list of characters, tho. http://spadenet.net/knightface/?page_id=221 It's not quite yet as ridiculous as Naruto, but it's in danger of getting there. I don't know what's a decent segue into and out of presenting character backstories. I kind of really just want to make an RPG Maker game to rough it out.

(I can also imagine a silly/goofball-type character having the occasional SRS MOMENT, especially if their sarcastic side is partly a defense against teh feels or something.)

Eee, I loves your characters! <3  And I think there's nothing wrong with having a lot of them if they all have a reason to be there (which it seems like they all do, so no worries~).  Backstory can be hard to fit into the plot sometimes, so I definitely feel your pain there.  I've been trying to chop it up into smaller flashbacks and stick it in whenever it's relevant to the action and/or there's a dull part in the main story, or when something needs to be explained, but I dunno if I'm making it too choppy and jumpy or what.  Writing is hard.

Also I've probably said this before, but I would totally play the math out of a Knightface RPG.  <33333

I'm still slogging through, trying to untangle some knots in Knightface's plot before I can get back to it. I'm close, but still not where I want to be.

^ Ah, good luck with the plot de-tanglement! I'm kinda in the same spot myself. I've spent about a year rewriting the first half of the thing I started last year, and I just want to get to the dramatic explodey bits in the middle already. orz

There are a ton of other characters but I need to actually go back and draw new artwork for them, and redo some outfits.  I have a really long elaborate story for this and ugh... x_x So trying to find a way to draw it that isn't so time-consuming for my perfectionist self. Maybe I'll give up and just write it.

Well I too back to drawing my comic, I want to at last finish My Sins so I'm spending most of free time I have now on drawing things for it and I slowly moving on with second volume.

I've gotten a little further in finalizing the outline for Knightface.  It'll finally keep me from going off the rails, I hope.  Now the problem is just scene to scene dialogue, which is like pulling teeth.
