Re: Xenotensei may go down
Meaning, back when other communities were around, they just kept to themselves. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I think they were just attached to XenoTen and no one can replace it now that it's gone? That's only just a guess.

About the members of XenoTensei like A.C. and Abel the Contact : they posted in the forum of XenoTensei in july 2013 (I am sure of it). There were many active and popular topics (Pied Piper Fan Manga, ODM scans Translation). So why didn't they come here to continue to speak about Xeno ?
Well, a sad answer would be that they are not interested in Xeno any more. After all, many Xeno-fans disappear from the net after the end of Godsibb (Am I wrong ?).
I know some members of XU are still in contact with them though.?
Im not sure myself. Abel the contact seemed quite upbeat and passionate about the series so I would think he would still be interested in it. A.C seemed like he was getting disillusioned by xenoblade and the future of the series, but seeing as he put so much effort into the forum and the studyguide I imagine he will come back to it at some point. It is good to see that some of the more active members like kare reiko and neosmith are here.

If you know well the story of Xenogears and Xenosaga, would be interested to take care of the part of XenoTensei which analyse the both games together (the common timeline for example) ? I can't do this myself since I didnt clear Xenogears yet (high risks of spoiler).
Yes I have played through all the games so I have a good understanding of the story, what is it you need doing with this?
Thanks

I only really used that forum, but I wasn't really to aware of the other ones out there. I think most people find a forum they like and stick with that particular one.

Well as you can see here :
http://xeno-underground.net/wiki/doku.php?id=wiki:history_of_xenogears_and_xenosaga
... some good archives of XenoTensei have already been uploaded ont the XU wiki.
So it would be normal to go on in this way. Though I find a little ''brutal'' to just put PDFs on the XU-wiki like this, but it would be too long to recreate a whole neat web-page, so... What is important to me is above all to name the pages of the XU-wiki correctly, so that somebody can find them quickly by searching on Google.
There is a section which is particularly interesting (and very very full of spoilers) : ''Xenogears and Xenosaga Story Analysis'', which is in the folder :
Xenoverse\Xenotensei (secrets)\PDFs\Both series Story Analysis
This is the section I was speaking in my previous post. So if you want to give a hand to the wiki, go ahead :nice:

Is there still no light from XenoTensei creators? I still would more than gladly provide a free host and FTP for them.

I haven't heard from them, no. Sorry for the late reply on this, too.

I think since this has been going on for almost a year, I think it's pretty much a thing that is done. Now watch it pop back up as soon as I've said this.

Re: Xenotensei may go down
So sad
Anyway about this...
Currently my Dropbox account (Cloud computing) allows me to freely store about 50 Gigaoctets on the cloud. The whole Xenotensei-files weight about 800 Megaoctets.
So no problem for now.
However the 01/09/2015, my space of storing will fall to 2,5 Gigaoctets, and 2,5 Gigagoctets is roughly the space I need for my school business, so... I hope I or you will find a solution about this by this date.
In my opinion the less worst solution is to transfer the PDF files on the XU Wiki. Concerning the big files (Perfect Works Scans for example), I have no solution yet, maybe I can post them on flickr.com or tumblr...

Re: Xenotensei may go down
Well, considering we already have the XG perfectworks files onhand here (http://xeno-underground.net/media_xenogears_pw.html), maybe it's time to try to leverage what we have here versus what they had at XenoTen, so that the info isn't duplicated. Is there a comparison chart going to see what we've already backed up versus what needs to be backed up in the future?

Re: Xenotensei may go down
About Xenogears Perfect Works, I mean English-translated scans. On the links you gave me, they are in Japanese (my my I have finally decided to begin Xenogears some days ago and wow this game is awesome, and I am so frightened to even look at those high-spoil scans... brr...).
About the chart you mention, I will take care of this if you don't mind.

Re: Xenotensei may go down
Ohhh, okay. The english translations of the PW scans are also on Flickr, and G+, unless they've moved elsewhere since I posted the PW Discussion thread (http://xeno-underground.net/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=517). A lot of the scans are quite high-spoilery, though, so enjoy Xenogears and let them sit for a while. :3
I appreciate the chart being made! That way, not only one person has to work on helping you archive the material to the wiki. I know I've been busy for a really long time, but when I do get back to a place where I can help, I want to help, and I want to make it easier for others to help, as well.

This is a very interesting repost. Thanks, Valkyrie!
However, I am not sure we should try contacting the author - his site supports Gamergate or at least claims to.

I'm with Neosmith on this.
I'm also not a fan of the articles criticizing Soraya and Blade, but those are my personal opinions. The author here seems to be pretty proud of the way he dug them up.

Re: Xenotensei may go down
Ah very sorry katimus and Neosmith, but I haven't understood what you just wrote. Please be kind, English is not my native language.
About this page :
http://betweenlifeandgames.com/analyses/history-xenogears-xenosaga-part-4-monolith-soft-nintendo/
At the top it is mentioned that the data were uploaded by Vlado, and that the original author of the article is Yuriev aka A.C. (from Xenotensei) Right ?
So the one who criticize S.Saga and Xenoblade is A.C. Right ?
And the one who is supporting Gamergate is Vlado. Right ? I roughly know what Gamergate is (I read a little on Wikipedia), but what does that mean : "his site supports Gamergate"? What is the problem ? I am very active on Twitter those months and #Gamergate is everywhere, so explanations would be very very welcomed.

It was written by GameFAQs user Yuriev on his own site that is now down, and he just put down his initials A. C. as the article’s author.
Full credit goes to A. C. a.k.a. Yuriev!

Re: Xenotensei may go down
Hey Valkyrie, to explain, this Vlado person seems to be presenting the articles that were written by AC in a light that shows that he agrees with them. This makes me not want to contact him, because I don't respect the opinions expressed in those articles. This isn't stopping anyone else from contacting Vlado, and it hasn't stopped me from contacting AC in the past, but I usually don't like to contact people specifically to tell them I disagree with their opinions.
The thing about Gamergate is that it's turned into a social movement that's generally seen as extremely misogynistic, which, for myself, as a female, I tend to disagree with pretty strongly. The fact that Vlado is advertising that he supports Gamergate denotes another stark difference in opinion. This makes me think that any contact I'd attempt to make with Vlado would end in a fight, and I'm not interested in starting fights with people I don't know.
Does that make sense?

Not a problem. By all means, once again, this isn't stopping anyone else from contacting him. I just wanted to make sure people knew what my stance on this is.

This. I'm not an expert on Gamergate history, but I've picked up a lot of bad vibes from it secondhand, and I really don't think it would be a good idea to associate ourselves with it. I could probably dig up links explaining more if anyone's interested, but I will state here that I am 100% with Katimus in not wanting to associate XU with anything GG-related. I know there are some decent people in GG who actually are convinced it's about ethics and really believe they're doing the right thing, but given the behavior of most GG supporters and the views they espouse, they're either in denial or being misled, and those who do want to be taken seriously have left the movement FOR that reason.
So yeah, I think it's OK if people want to talk to this guy one-on-one (I haven't read through all his articles yet, but I'm gonna take a look in a minute), but affiliating with him on a site basis would be a bad look.
ETA: I cut out the huge textwall where I barfed about GG for 3 paragraphs because it seemed excessive, but you guys can PM me if you have questions, and maybe I'll post it in the rantspace or something. :S Sorry for getting all political up in here.

Re: Xenotensei may go down
Hey guys!
To confirm again - yes, the "History of Xenogears and Xenosaga" analysis is by A. C., the former owner (I believe) of Xenotensei that is now down. I have merely reuploaded it on Between Life and Games, and take absolutely no credit for the contents. I am really impressed with the research the man has done, and I believe the analysis is very well written. Like him, I really love Xenogears and Xenosaga. I haven't played Xenoblade yet, but what he has written certainly has me worried that it's not on the level of 'Gears or 'Saga. But that's life. I'll still play 'Blade soon enough because I am curious.
Regarding GamerGate, indeed I support the movement. The media at large has lied to you, it is not a misogynistic movement. The main goals of GamerGate are for ethical game journalism (a storm had been brewing between gamers and entitled, condescending "professional" game journalists for years, and it's finally raging), and protection of the freedom of expression of game writers and developers. Seeing as GamerGate is exposing corruption in many large game sites, it is only natural that those same sites try to paint GamerGate as the new KKK or something. But the rabbit hole goes much deeper. Anyway, I will try to keep an eye on this thread and to answer any questions you may have.
Oh yeah, it'd also be GREAT if someone here has the images of the third part of the analysis. Please let me know.
