December 14th 2014 - Scheduled Maintenence

The new version of PHPBB is available, and I'll need to schedule a time where I can sit down and focus on doing the upgrade manually. I'm hoping it's able to happen this month, but I don't have a date yet.

EDIT: I'm aiming to do this on Sunday, December 14th, 2014, at around 1200 EST, which is around 0900 PST, and 1700 GMT.
Last time we had to update, it took less than an hour, and things went pretty smoothly. All posts will be backed up, and I'll announce it if there are any problems.


I've been seeing a lot of instances of PMs failing to send or be received lately throughout the board. I'm putting in an inquiry to my host as we speak. I'm hoping the forum upgrade will take care of this.

I have sent a PM message on November 1st.

It is now in the "sent messages" section.
No response yet, though the member I wanted to contact has visited the site many many times from now.

Do you think it's a PM issue ?

Hrm, I haven't sent any PMs in a while and haven't received any (that I know of), but when I checked my inbox just now it said I had 2 messages aaand I didn't see any new ones in thurr, so it could be a board-wide issue?

Hey Valkyrie, usually you can tell if your PM was received when it's no longer in the outbox, but just to be sure, send a second copy. Since I have no idea what the contents of the lost messages contain, it's hard to reproduce the issue, which is holding up the ticket resolution, but Stitched, try sending me some PMs and i'll see if I get them.

Okay, so I kicked some tires in on the PM settings and one of those settings was to delay receipt of messages of the inboxes of those who were full. The previous max messages was set to 1000, but I've removed that limit entirely. Try volleying 4 or 5 messages back and forth to see if it's running better now.

I'm very sorry for the inconvenience this is causing, and I hope this fixes it.

Hey everyone, I'm looking to do this maintenance on the 14th of December at around noonish. I'm hoping it won't take all that long!

Bump! The maintenance was a complete disaster, but I think we're in a stable spot now. I'm going to see about moving the install since I don't trust the current one very well, but it's going to take longer than I thought. In the meantime, I've signed us up for an Invision style board on Forumotion, which does all its own maintenance. This will require us to move the board again, which will rely solely on a successful import, so stay tuned. :3
