Skell paintjob code sharing. Empty Skell paintjob code sharing.

So, we've talked about a bunch of things so far (I will get around to that plot threat discussion only after I finish it myself, I'm afraid), but one important detail in particular seems to be missing.

    Skell paintjob sharing.

I have no idea how to make a screenshot and get it over here on the internet, but the dev team has graciously built in a handy shortcut for this purpose in the editor UI directly.

My first attempt at mucking about with the paintjob editor so far:

The idea here was to try to reproduce the Pathfinder division colors on the first skell you get.  I've missed the target by quite a bit, but ended up liking the outcome more anyway. The gloss finish on everything and quite a bit duller colors of the NPC skells don't look quite as well, IMHO.

There is also the white (or as close as I could get to it) trim, visor and lights... I'll try the black trim and a second pass on the lights when it will come the time to get Lao a skell, I guess. Every party member needs to have unique looks, don't they? Very Happy

    EDIT:

Now, hopefully, with a screenshot that should help to get a glimpse of this.

Ohhh, I like this thread idea!! I'll have to go home and try your combination!

As soon as I got my first Verus/Wels, I went to emulate Vendetta from Xenogears' paintjob with it:

I probably should have used another model to do it, in retrospect.

To get a screenshot from the WiiU of good quality, here's the method I learned from one of my friends on Twitter. It requires you to have a pre-existing imgur account, but most people have those:
    1. When you're in a scene you want to screenshot, press the Home button.
    2. From this screen, press the icon for the web browser (it looks like a blue globe)
    3. Navigate to imgur.com and sign in
    4. Once signed in, press Upload Images
    5. Note that you have the option to upload either the TV or Gamepad screens
    6. Confirm uploading
    7. Repeat!

It might be possible to use another image sharing website for this, but since imgur is the only one I use, I can only attest to this method.

I did not, in fact, have one of those, but that can be fixed rather easily. Thanks! Will try today, see if I manage to get a good image.

    EDIT:

I've been able to save the image to my HDD without too much problem, but properly inserting it here seems to come out wrong. Kat, I'm afraid I need further advice from someone who knows what they are actually doing. Razz

    EDITv2:

My first attempt at Reclaimer division color scheme isn't quite to my liking. Regardless, here it is:

    Spoiler:

I'm not too sure about this particular color choice, but seeing as how the brown section ended up differing from the yellow-orange one only by brightness, I thought it neat enough to leave as is.

And, as you've probably already noticed, hue doesn't matter when you are going for either pure white or pure black.

As for Lao's machine, swapping section 1 and 2 of the Pathfinder scheme mentioned above and switching the trim lines to black seems to work not too terribly.

Hmm, are you trying to link the URL for it?  Direct image upload to this board has been disabled, but let me see if I can flip a few switches around.

    Edit: Testing

    Edit2: Testing again

Urk...so image embedding from file attachment isn't the best way to go about this, and we have very limited space. You're welcome to try to directly upload what you've got here with the attachments section on the board (this won't appear with Quick Reply).  I've set the max filesize to 1mb (because we only have 20mb available). It might do to try to go with some kind of imgur or photobucket site and link it from there? XU has had its attachments set to "off" since I started up on account of awkward attachment handling on other boards in the past.

Okay, no images directly on the page. Not really an issue.

Can't help but notice that the end result eats up in-game lightning levels quite a bit. And colors too. Sadness. Sad
