How have you not played 3 yet, it's my favourite one!!!
Hi. Resident Vergil idiot here. XD
I've always loved the Devil May Cry games, way back when they first came out! It was a much more engaging version of Onimusha and Resident Evil, and I will always love its gothic environments. Seriously the environmental design of 1/3/4 blows my mind every time. 3 was actually the one that introduced (and built on very convincingly) the more hilarious Dante that you're very familiar with in 4.

I was okay with the reboot as a game, but I didn't care what it did to characters I was very fond of. Especially Vergil. I also like the references to the first DMC made in Bayonetta.

i own 3 but didnt like it. dantes personallity was written wierd & all he seemed to do was yell wierd thi-chi or something. they made his personallity a turn off i dunno why. fighting was still good & the same but i think they changed that one stupid default button for jumping. virgil was cool i like the look-a-like thing. i found neros love story to be more fascinating than virgils story. in 1 i liked the part where u fight sparda in the bedroom he jumps out the window sceene.

overall of 1. i played it at the same time i played onimusha 1 i loved both series to death. dmc 1 dante fought monsters/bugs/incets/animals. had cool intro 'sword...ha! time to goto work guys!' trish had cool power &

looked like dantes mom in the photo. good story thouh simple was done really well really good introduction to the rest of the series though at the time it felt like more than that. then at the end he gets the shop open. Very Happy

overall of 2. dante was still bad assed but he never spoke. dissappointing no diologgue until the end. non stop fighting was good it felt strong like main focus of the game just kill &

dont stop being a bad ass!    story w/ that cjhic was stupid & she was too small a character. so it was like......ok......how was that important....???????.........oh i see it wasnt!  :annoyed: just kill!!!!!!! that basicly was the whole game. not as good but i didnt hate it. plus graphic quality was excellent.

overall of 3 so far. it bored me at some point it felt rediculous. theres a guitar that turns into a weapon. this just getting silly. woo woo nuck nuck what is dante a three stooge now??? at least the chic seems to stay relevant not the best story in the world though. why does 1 feel so much better?? so honestly 3 kinda lost me in dedication to the series. i stoped playing it & every new sceen w/ virgil felt like hes repeating his self again hes just saying more of what he just said. he feels far away & not a real threat to anything like im never gonna fight him. finally the spar/face off but so long to get to it. just not greatly written was rather sad & fighting didnt feel do hardcore like 2.

so i dissappeared from dmc world yeah once upon a time dante was cool.

then i gotta ps4 for xmas woohoo & my first 2 games as presents were final fantasy 13 where i found out a spoiler & ruined it cu im doing all this fighting & lots of dieing & i dunno why im sucking at that game xd i thought i could create a better meatier plot than what there was like it just sparked my brain to write my own story the characters i did not feel in love with like i had ffx loved everyone dearly especially auron. this time no one seemed to cut it & the one guy i bearly like whos the only person i do kinda like dies later pfftttt....... :annoyed: waste my life on that. so i gave up on that &

played dmc 4 instead. overall of 4 story was top notch i cared deeply for all the characters i loved every part of it. there was no bad diologue no missing pieces, no sceens that felt too stupid dante was a man again not a stooge xd & also a rather funny man a few jokes & excellent soundtrack exotic & terrifying things to kill no stupid giant monkeys like 2 real demons this time & trish back!  :greenjump: trish we missed you!!!! finally the real woman of the series! hi there.  :hi:  :biggrin2: and this real boy who still sounds like he needs help killing stuff nero.for dante this story was a walk in the park for nero it was about his strength growing. i forget her name but i liked the chic he loved. it was fun to see his relentless persuit to save her even if its his own death but i think the whole time he knew he wouldnt die. xd.  :eek2:  :eek3: everything was great! best story, script, fighting was hardcore again & felt really fresh & new feeling very serious & lighter moments too. was excellent & we got challenges that i actually wanted to  play instead of the ones that just piss me off cuz i die constantly xd. so i beat it a bunch of times & noticed my skill cuz i went back poped in the old dmc 1 started writing down little notes of the first game see how they connect to 4. i kicked its ass in 2 days. i love those puppets! i have toys of those lol. so i got to love the first game again & now with notes. got few short notes cuz the plot wasnt real thick but great stuff! :laugh4:  :happy5: so of course i had to do the same on 2 & kicked its ass & fighting was great no notes cuz there was no story only kill evil guy whos a small evil guy in dantes world so the whole game according to story is not about fighting the big bad guy its about fighting the little bad guy & tracking him down. so a day in the life of dante is alot like 2. if he wre real & existed this is how a typical day is for him. so he kicks small lords ass & its over. now he can go back to the shop some down time or go wandering about wherever his intrest peeks or find clues to kill some other small lord guy etc. so he slowly goes around cleaning the world. so i shouldve poped in 3 next & did but i still didnt beat it xd. i dont remember why that time though. first time i was dissappointed in it & im not sure if it got too hard or not? but i know 4 increased my fight skill on button mashing xd. i tried playin it on every difficulty i could starting at easiest. i flew right through 1 & 2 still had 1 rather memorized in collecting stuff/locations of things.

so since i stopped there i started writing what was going to be a crossover imagineing my self in the games i play what would i be doing or how should this go instead if i didnt like parts of it. i was working on a fan fiction crossover of dmc & ff13. making the two worlds different contenints instead of different games cuz stuff in a different country can be totally different & feel like a different world. id just combine them that way. i started out doing a dmc world & my oc will leave cuz her relationship w/ dante is going well & starts fighting monsters in ff13 world in a different country. was gonna make her fall in love with Gazdot after she meets snow &

hes such a small character i can do anything w/ him. so she gets married dante comes to see it he kisses the bride those traditions of things then she feels love for dante she didnt realize she had. so it kinda suggests she slowly falls in love w/ dante. but what of Gazdot? so theres peace time in ff13 world where she can get married &

dante is always fighting the fight & only gets down time. no real peace time cuz its not that kinda thing there. so fighting gets hard he needs her back. theres less dmc characters than there is in ff13 cuz they always have tons of ppl & they all feel like family to her. so my oc leaves to help dante even though hes needed in 2 places cuz shes married & needs to save them if they get attacked again but dante insists so she goes back 'home'  to his place. she does it cuz he needs her to fight not cuz she secretly love him cuz she love Gazdot who shows up there later but he is too weak against the monsters in dmc world. hes just a guy afterall. my oc has powers from orbs. he can not fight & spends most of his time being a guest in someones house (dantes) like hes a house wife xd cuz hes rather useless there. i havent really outlined the rest of it after that point cuz i could do many things from there. i could break them up she could love dante but hes not really the marry me type & she wasnts marrage, or i could keep them together make gazdot leave for for home & make an epic battle & that will make it feel like husband came to visit. so i dunno from there. i only have 1 chapter so far out of all that xd.

Not sure if it was mentioned somewhere above or not, but the latest DMC game is available on PC as well.

I didn't finish a single playthrough of either the first or the second games; main reasons why probably being the camera, the control scheme and 'run through this door before the timer runs out' level sections didn't really jive with me. I find very captivating watching other people play it though - location and monster design is just plain awesome even if I may not like all of them. (Not so much with various weaponry, curiously enough. All of those spikes jutting out everywhere in a typical visual shorthand for 'demonic' are just not to my taste.)

DMC 3... It placed a much more sizeable part of its effort on characters and movie-like cutscenes. I didn't particularly like Lady and some parts of Dante, but I'm a total sucker for both Vergil and the bald guy whose name I forgot. Interplay between the main character and the bosses he faced was surprisingly fun too, in its own cheeky way. And huge kudos to director's work - arguably the best in the series so far. Location design is just plain awesome, especially the level number 19.

The fourth game is probably the one I've enjoyed playing the most, limited Dante screentime notwithstanding. This iteration of Dante as a character is my favourite by far too. Cutscenes' direction... doesn't quite reach the quality level the third game set in most cases, even if they look visually appealing.

The last one... I've found location design quite interesting, even if the game went in a rather different direction with it then the previous four. Platforming sections are finally more enjoyable than frustrating. Gameplay offers some new interesting things to do in the form of whips. Heretofore untested weapon classes were experimented with instead of just plain copy-pasting things that worked from the previous games wholesale. Shotgun looks absolutely cool.

I'd have to join the crowd of naysayers on the topics of characters and plot though. Sure, each and every previous DMC game went with different things with Dante (seriously, there are as many canon Dantes as there are DMC games by now) and clean-slating everything and giving the thing a backstory (the cutscene that introduces it is just plain awesomesauce, go see it on youtube if you didn't yet) you don't have to trawl additional materials for is an understandable decision. I just didn't particularly like what said everything was clean-slated in favour of.

Perhaps the worst part of it is the level number 20 and the hilarious-yet-painful contrivances it goes through to shove that boss fight in there in the end (and even more awkward plot hook after it). The boss fight itself is nice to look at, make no mistake, but it is shoehorned in an extremely ham-fisted manner. So, being the last thing you see of the game, I'd wager this sours the opinion of the game significantly - especially considering the bone-chilling goodness of the level right before the ending boss gauntlet.

So, in short, I'd recommend you to find a youtube walkthrough if you can't or don't want to play it yourself and gorge your eyes on the location design. :goofy:

Probably the DMC 4 one. There is not much of him there and I happen to extremely dislike how the scene where he is talking to Credo was presented, but yeah, most favourite Dante.
