Hi there, I'm Arylett, and I have recently become a HUGE Xenosaga/Xenogears fanatic. It is something I take very seriously, and am super passionate about. Because this series has created a personal connection with someone I care about, has taught me many things, and basically altered my life for the better.
Sit down there, and I'll tell you the story. Then I'll tell you about myself.
My fiance moved in with me, and he brought Xenogears with him. We were looking at a selection of games one of us hadn't played before, so I picked Xenogears for our next playthrough. And little did I know... that it would consume me.
I LOVED it. Especially the character Elly. I became so emotionally attached to her and the entire thing gave me feelings I hadn't had since I was a child. A great, epic story, I was so immensely consumed by it that it caused me to have a sort of emotional awakening that has changed my life for the better. It literally was unlike anything I had ever seen and gave a shock to my systems. (It's a bit complicated, so I'm sorry if I'm freaking you guys out a little.)
Plus, my fiance provided the voices for all the male characters as we read the dialog, so this made the characters stand out and pop even more. (Especially Citan, you guys should hear his Citan. It is PERFECT.) We would pretend to be the characters and do ridiculous situations with them even when not playing the game.
After this, I had to get Xenosaga. So we bought all three games and are currently playing through them. Almost done with Xenosaga III... but not quite yet, so try not to spoil me!
Xenosaga has given me the same sort of experience as well. I love the characters. Especially Shion and KOS-MOS. I really identify with Shion and can sometimes feel like I'm her. She has a similar sort of personality and even kind of looks like me. The idea that she is so passionate about her creation, KOS-MOS, really resonates with me. I too feel a passion and protectiveness at my creations. And I feel rather protective of KOS-MOS myself because of this. I just get so worried when bad things happen to her and Shion. (She has a nice design too. Love the blue hair/red eyes. KOS-MOS is now the reason why I find androids and mechanical life forms much more interesting than I did before) Also, Ziggy is awesome because my fiance and I have an injoke where he imitates his voice and says "EIGHT!" over and over again. His backstory is also possibly one of the most unique things I've ever seen.
I could go on about all the things I love about Xenosaga, really. And that's why I'm here! So I'll save the rest for other threads. Or maybe you could ask me and hear me ramble on at length anyway. Either one works.
Probably won't be posting too much until I complete the series though, because I'll be wanting to avoid spoilers. But I just had to join some kind of Xeno-related place.
I'm also interested in playing Xenoblade and such, and will be doing so later.
Now, some stuff about me? Well, I am a 22 year old female. I am an artist/writer and am all about creativity. Right now, I have plans to create loads of Xeno-related fanart, perhaps a ridiculous comic or two about this insanely silly story my fiancee and I have made up which he tells before he goes to bed. (Yes, we have a Xenosaga bedtime story. We call it "Etherischen Stumpf Fang", which is German for "Ethereal Butt Catcher," and part of the story is about Allen trying to make a special toilet for U-DO. So silly.) And certainly a comic depicting a Xenosaga roleplay we do. But I also have my own original series called the Aelita series, which has been undergoing changes and heavily inspired by Xenosaga/Xenogears in many places. Kind of has a sci-fi feel similar to the series.
Things I like other than Xenosaga/Xenogears are Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Tales series, any other sort of story-heavy JRPG, anime (I haven't watched a lot yet, but I'm certainly looking and open to many new things!), My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and other things I can't think of at the moment.
I apologize for my excessive enthusiasm. Usually, I'm honestly not so enthusiastic and girly about things. But for some reason, the Xeno series has really gotten me pumping and full of energy with its awesomeness. So again, looking forward to meeting other fans. :3
