    Les Miserables

I just saw the new adaptation of it with Hugh Jackman. All of my heart-guts are just spilled all over the floor. I promise to actually provide decent conversation about this later.

I saw it on Xmas day with Jerami.  He wasn't going to let me go with him at first because he was afraid I was gonna say something snarky and ruin it, but I think I actually cried even more than he did. (Fun fact: I almost never cry at movies and Jerami almost always does, at least when there's a sad part.  He had threatened to never let me go to the movies with him again because I inadvertently made fun of his manly tears during Wreck-It Ralph.)

I'd never seen Les Mis before, and I knew it was gonna be heart-wrenchingly sad from everything I'd heard about it, but I was not prepared for DIRECT TACTICAL STRIKE TO THE FEELS courtesy of that Valjean guy and Cosette and akdfkas;daafsjh owwwww my heart. D:  I cried, I cried more, I made ugly sobbing faces and bizarre inhuman noises!  But generally I liked it, in spite (or because) of all that.  I don't know how the film compares to any other adaptations since it was basically my first exposure to the story (I may have to remedy that retroactively tho), but I was pretty impressed with it overall.  I thought the way they did the music was really cool. :B

I was watching the Valjean and Cosette parts in the back of my mind and something in it ticked, hey, maybe stitched might get feelz from this. They really played the surrogate father bit up in this production. What they played down, tho, was Javert's malice, which really surprised me, because I'm used to Javert being Margulis without his mech (I basically describe Margulis to my non-Xenosaga friends as Javert with a Giant Robot). But everyone did such a good job. I held in my audible sobs until the very end where Fantine shows up again (even thinking about that is making me tear up, agh). Ow, my feelings.

So! I just saw the movie and I've seen a small production of the play a few years back.
Ugh, such a heartwrenching story. <3
I was pretty surprised by the gentler go with Javert and the playing up of Fantine's traumas. In the live adaption I saw the audience only really got to see her getting her hair cut off and being 'taken away' by a man, but...uh..yeah. I do have my gripes with this adaption, but as a whole I was dying x_x. Favourite vocalists were probably Fantine and Eponine. Every time they opened their mouths I started tearing up.

I think the more I think about Gentle Javert, the angrier I get, but everyone else did such a good job, so it's not worth being upset over.

I haven't seen the movie, I just thought I'd add that I found it was interesting (and responsible) how Anne Hathaway presents her starvation diet for the film. Pretty much saying DON'T EVER DO THIS. IT IS NOT SEXY.
