Yeah, Break Record is gonna be the DeSu 2 equivalent to Overclocked, except it will be even more of an upgrade. There's a new playable character, new scenes, a whole new playable week, there are more potential deaths for all the characters, more skills and abilities, and there's a rumor there will be changeable outfits. It's looking to be really awesome. The original DeSu 2 is already my favorite SRPG ever, this is just making it that much more awesome.

Well crap, the RE6 EX3 outfit event is a failure;
the target hasn't been met by the players, so no retro outfit unlocked this time, it seems. ._.
Anyway, I've tried out Raid Mode in RE: Revelations. It's... rather boring. And to think half of the unlockable trophies are exclusive to Raid Mode... pfft.
Deadly Premonition's release has been delayed again. For the love of Deus, gimme the damn game already!

^I imagine they are working out the bugs. My brother bought the PS3 version as soon as it came out in America (he already had it for 360, but he's a die-hard fan) and it seems incredibly buggy.
A friend of mine allowed me to try The Last of Us demo and...wow. The game played so smoothly and graphics were phenomenal. I'm incredibly tempted to pick it up next week...

You'd think the Director's Cut would have less glitches... but good to know. If I'm not mistaken Europe already has the game available on PSN for digital purchase. Good thing I've decided to go with a physical copy, hopefully with less glitchiness then.Jintoki wrote:^I imagine they are working out the bugs. Skyrim is the only game I've played in all its glitchy glory before any patches were available. It almost made me wonder if GotY meant Glitchfest of the Year instead of Game of the Year... :dead3:

I've been playing Shadow of the Colossus because its soooooo goooooooooooood, then I sometimes move on to Devil May Cry 3 so I can finish playing as Vergil. I was thinking of getting back to Bayonetta so I can unlock her gun-chucks.

Catherine is indeed amazing. I can see why people would get the wrong idea based on the cover, but it's definitely not an eroge.

I got The Last of Us and, holy crap, is it intense. There have been several moments where stealth is the most preferred action, but I fail so miserably at stealth most of the time...

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
I'm playing in FF7: Crisis Core. I started first Kh: Days but I fell ill so I couldn't get from bed for two weeks so I thought about making use of psp.
I think it's pretty nice game, FF7 wasn't so much "holy grall" for me, so I pretty much like the other games and movie that SE make for this part.
I think CC was the best of all four side stories(I don't know how was Before Crisis). Poor Zack, I wished the best for him and Aerith but CC has to end in that way, well at last they are be together after AC(C).

I never really cared for any of the Compilation beyond FF7, but I'm also a huge FF7 fan myself.

I wish I never got attached to Final Fantasy 7 in the first place, but I agree with Kare that CC is the most worthy successor of the Complication.
I was thinking about hooking up the Wii and playing some Mario or Xenoblade, but I have so much other junk to do.

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
I kinda got annoyed by Devil Survivor and haven't played any further. XD However, I've almost beaten my second playthrough of Fire Emblem Awakening (hard mode, pretty much all the children with Galeforce). I also decided to start Final Fantasy XIII because I wanted to see why everyone's been so hard on this game and I've actually enjoyed it quite a bit so far. So yeah.

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
I think part of peoples' negatives opinions about FF13 have been because of expectations (myself included), so there haven't been a whole lot of truly fresh brains on it in a while. My husband couldn't even stand to be in the room with me while I was playing it, but that was a bit dramatic of him.

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
I mean, it is different for sure, but I've enjoyed the story and battling so far and my sister has enjoyed watching me play it. We went in with pretty low expectations I think, and I'm only on chapter 4 as of now. Does it go downhill from here?

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
I really enjoyed FFXIII myself. I like the battle system and I actually love the story and characters [size=85:28ic5cpp](except for Vanille, HATE). I'd say my own complaints about the game would be how linear everything is [size=85:28ic5cpp](which changes enormously in chapter 11) and farming Gil in FFXIII is tedious. I don't like that enemies don't drop Gil in this game, it's annoying.
The earlier chapters of the game are generally considered the weaker ones and chapter 11 is often praised even by some of the haters, so I'd say it goes uphill.

Cool! The enemies not dropping Gil bugs me too, so I've basically been trying to hold on to all that I've gotten from the item thingies so far.

I have lots of issues with Crisis Core personally. Too much retcons, and not for the better, IMO. But maybe you enjoy it mainly/more for gameplay (I don't judge or anything, I love some games mainly for the gameplay while having issues with the story... Valkyrie Profile 2 for example) ? Compared to DoC, I'm pretty sure CC must be better anyway.
I also can't watch Advent Children anymore. This movie is for the most part pretty boring (because they tried to make a 15/20 hours plot fit into a 60 minute movie... the rare bright spots are scenes involving Aerith... plot wise and visually *gosh, this game is so grey overall*... all those fillers involving battles are just painful to watch) and over the top. I know Advent Children Complete is considered an improvement but I don't care enough to watch it. The main reason this movie was loved is because it's a sequel to a beloved game. But I think The Spirit Within destroyed it, quality wise. Similarly, this movie was only hated because it was americanized, the story took place in the real world and not in a FF type of world with Nomura characters and Uematsu music and chocobos etc... I can understand how betrayed the fandom must have felt back in the days, but this movie is still objectively better than Advent Children. The rest of the Compilation is worse.
On top on this, it generated a new generation of FF7 fans... who don't know a thing about FF7 itself and aren't even willing to play the game (because it's "ugly" ... I guess... or they just don't care), hence having an ignorant view of the storyline, characters etc...
It also generated a wave of haters who think FF7 doesn't deserve its praise... while the actual game is pretty darn cool for its time and more playable than FF8 or 9 (for one simple reason, and I say this as someone who love and praise FF9 *one of the very best FF to me and my first*... FF7 is the only one to not be slow as hell and it feels so good). I replayed it last year, shutting every Compilation/fandom related stuff out of my mind. Awesome experience ! Better than when I first played it actually. I first played it after reading a fan novel. I ended up slightly disappointed and I couldn't really enjoy the game for what it was (basically, I shouldn't have read this novel... I didn't expect the game to be so "player-oriented" as a result).
FF7 got so distorted by its fandom and Compilation writers, it's quite sad.
katimus_prime wrote:I think part of peoples' negatives opinions about FF13 have been because of expectations (myself included), so there haven't been a whole lot of truly fresh brains on it in a while.
This... and linearity.
I mean, just give the exact same storyline and characters to fans... except with an open world/less linearity... and I bet the game wouldn't have been hated (this much). Look at FF13-2, it's a perfect example of what I'm talking about.
However it screwed with the story they started with 13. THIS is when I joined the negativity crowd. FF13 wasn't well received, SE ? Well, don't insist and move on ! While FF13 had issues, I thought it had some potential (main characters were alright *except Snow and his gang, they're my personal irritation, can't stand their stupidity and smugness* with nice relationships between all of them *but Snow/Serah is one of the worst couples of the series*, story could have been better delivered *and screw
- Spoiler:
- this deus ex machina at the end... power of friendship saves the day... riiiighhht
The whole "Lightning saga" was obviously NOT planned as it is now. In a way, it reminds me of Xenosaga's poor treatment by Namco (except that Monolith made an amazing Episode 3... even without Takahashi/Soraya Saga being that much involved... and Xenosaga was supposed to be a series in the first place... and it didn't slow down an entire bigger series in people's mind... not sure if Lightning Returns can turn out to be as epic and good as Xenosaga 3 was).
So, what am I playing ? Well, I got into FF6 once again. Finished Chrono Trigger some months ago (awesome). Started Secret of Mana (the music ... and RIP to the illustrator :frown3: ... such a talented artist he was). Good game so far. Oh yeah, and I'm trying to finish stuff in FF10. I don't know if I'm masochistic or what sometimes. Well, at least, this time I managed to understood how to play Blitzball (wait until I FINALLY understand Triple Triad in FF8... this game is so popular among the fandom and yet I never understood how you're supposed to win *it always seemed such a random system to me*) and easily win tournaments (but it's so long, arrggggg... each match is freaking 10 minutes long). Managed to score 4 seconds at the chocobo race (a nightmare to score less but doable... I guess). Caught all the cactuars and completed Rikku's weapon. Frak the butterflies and thunder challenge though. I understand why people spent 200 hours on this game but I still think the guy responsible for those quests should be tortured with his own creations.

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
God, I remember doing all of those things in FFX. The only time I have ever thrown my controller was with the chocobo race, and that was because I was just the teensiest bit over what I needed. I had worked so hard and thought I had it, only to find out, "Nope, you suck. Go try it again."
Tidus, I hate your damn weapon with a passion. It can go die in a fire. I honestly found it easier dealing with the butterflies and lightning, though not by much. :dizz2:
As for XIII, I enjoyed it (mostly) for what it was. However, I GREATLY prefer XIII-2 in almost all aspects. Noel became my favorite male character of the series, usurping the throne from Hope. I'm actually terrified of how badly they'll destroy his character in LR. Everything I've seen for LR makes me want it less and less. I think I'll just end up watching the cutscenes involving him on YouTube. I'm not giving S-E my money for knocking my party down to a party of just Lightning. Look, I like Lightning, but she's nowhere near my favorite female (that's Vanille) and I'm tired of S-E throwing Lightning in my face like she's the next best thing. Here's a clue, S-E - she's not. What about those people who like the other characters? I guess we don't count anymore, because it's all about Lightning. Anyway...
I'm not playing much of anything at the moment. I'm in a mood where no game really appeals to me.

Re: What Are You Playing Currently?
While it is true that a lot of Crisis Core (read: Genesis) is dull, I mostly did enjoy its gameplay. And while it looks like they did
I'm fully convinced that SE is just clamoring and reaching for peoples' money because the failure of something put them so badly in debt. They see that sparklies sell, and they've thrown the baby out with the bath water. I do have hope that maybe one day it'll get better, but not money to spend to see about it. I never got FF13-2, though I think I might at least give it a shot, because a lot of people whose tastes I trust have liked it.

- take a bunch of liberties with some things, inserting more scientists supposedly on the level with Hojo (lol, Hollander), trashing whatever expectations existed with the full reveal of Zack and Aeris' relationship, anything at all involving Genesis, etc, etc and so forth, I ended up liking it because the things that made me mad about it didn't outweigh the things I liked about it. I was also coming off the heavy distrust of SE from Dirge of Cerberus with the way the Compilation treated Lucrecia and Hojo's (lack of) background relationship.

They'll probably forget him just like Fang, Vanille and Sazh (minus the DLC he got) were forgotten about. I don't care about the game but I hope for you I'm wrong, though.chibi wrote:I'm actually terrified of how badly they'll destroy his character in LR.
Oh well, hoping FF15 is worth the waiting now. Minus the all male party, I have some hope it will be enjoyable and better received than the FF13 games.

I wish they make more AerisxZack scenes and gameplays then all this Genesis parts, we can run around Aeris church only twice in game, we have 3 different times we see Zack in her place (one unplayable after Angeal dead)
I think it wouldn't hurt if game story was longer, on 2 cd or something.
DoC wasn't so bad, I hate shooting games but that one thank good was easy and I was playing it with my ex-friend and we have fun in playing it.
All I can say for this part that: poor Vincent and bitch Lucrecia. She would better stay with Hojo and don't mess with Vincent mind and body...
