    uncanny horrors from the blender dimension

    Post by stitchedmoon on Tue Feb 06, 2018 9:44 pm

    I tried to life-recycle a generic Fuse model in Blender and the results are about as horrific as you might expect given my abysmal lack of skill and experience.

    Spoiler:

    He's not very accurate and I still gotta fix the rig so it's less broken, also I'll probably have to delete everything under his clothes so it doesn't clip through but in the meantime,
    Spoiler:

    ... I actually think learning how to rip the actual models from the actual game would have been a better use of my time, but I always do things the stupid way. ;w;

    Nothing wrong with messing around with it! Good luck! I probably should have messed around with existing models more when I had my Blender phase, but the best I made was crappy looking crab creatures.

    Ahahaha, thanks, guys~ ^^;  I think I was a little intoxicated when I posted those (at home I'm too ashamed to let anyone see what I've been doing in Blender for the last few months because what if belong in toilet).  And derp, looks like the server move might have busted those image links anyway, at least on my end?

    Anyway, I made a bunch of mistakes with that model, but it was kind of just to get a feel for how (not) to do the thing.  Razz  So I started over with this tutorial from Secret Gamer Girl and some screenshots from the game(s) and tried to stay on-model as much as I could, although I kinda had to BS some of it:

    Spoiler:

    Ignore the soulless blank eyes for now, that's just his personality I gotta fix those when I do the textures.  ;P  I mostly referenced the XS1 model 'cause I like his face in that one, but everything else is a clumsy pastiche of bits from all three games plus concept art and some crap I just made up because I couldn't figure out how his legs work.  I also didn't do individual planes for his hair because I wanted a solid thingy, for reasons. o_o

    In other news, rigging is hard and I just wanna dance.
    Spoiler:

    Hee~ c:  I'm hella bad at this but it's like 50% of what's keeping me out of abject despair right now, so I may be at it for a while. :D  Here's a Juli (horribly textured and even more half-assed than Ziggy at the moment, hence not facing the camera).
    Spoiler:

    I don't know how to do things, but I also don't know how to stop doing them. ._.

    I made it slightly less half-assed this time, awkward scale/size difference notwithstanding. :1

    Damn! That's really impressive! I mess around with 3ds Max sometimes and you are much more skilled than I am.
