    Post by shinuzuki Thu Oct 09, 2014 8:36 pm

    includes baking and simple foods like cup o noodles =] I ask because I'm doing this weekly cooking thing with my mate, and then we enjoy our efforts watching anime or a movie that night ^^

    We've done fettucine alfredo [i cant figure out how to keep it creamy lol]
    a type of dip involving cream cheese, beanless chili topped with shredded cheese [frigging addicting, try it, i promise its good ;

    ]]
    we've baked cinnamon streusel coffee cake [also delicious~]
    simple grilled cheese [using a toaster overn lol] with tasty marinara sauce~

    okay, now I'm really hungry... >

    Hehe, that sounds awesome! Some of my favorite things to make are chicken pie and soup, [url=http:

    html:2bvpkgk1]MAPLE SYRUP CHICKEN!!!!![/url:2bvpkgk1] (ok I mostly just like the enthusiasm in this one, but it's actually a good recipe too), annnnd ... yeah, that's a lot of chicken. X3

    My husband has a really good (and easy) recipe for dip made from chunky salsa, cream cheese, cottage cheese, and jalapenos blended together in a food processor. It's great with chips or on tacos or that sort of thing.

    I actually do something very similar with my partner, haha. Movie night and home cooked meals rock! :3
    I like making a lot of things, but some favorites include:
    - Breakfast-Veggie-Chickpea Miso (http://www.wholeliving.com/151386/break ... -chickpeas)
    - Sesame Tofu Soba Noodles (http://damndelicious.net/2013/10/09/tof ... ba-noodles)
    - Green Beans and Almonds (http://chefmichaelsmith.com/recipe/brow ... d-almonds/)
    - Chicken Stew (made up recipe using chicken stock, stewed tomatoes, potatoes/other veggies, parsley/italian spices, served on a bed of pasta with a light layer of parmasean cheese)
    - Cornflake breaded porkchops with apple sauce (use cinnamon on your apple sauce if you're making it in the microwave adds a little extra punch)
    - Spicy Pork Tenderloin with Mango (if available) or Peach Chutney
    This is a recipe I learned from my mom but it basically requires (2 tbsp Chili Powder, 1 Tbsp Cumin, 1 teaspn salt, 1 teaspn sugar, 1/2 teaspn black pepper. Rub into the meat and wrap, fridge it for an hour then cook in an oven at about 375 F.) Chutney is basically chopped red onions, tomato, cilantro, and peaches or mangoes (or both!). Drizzle with olive oil and is served cold.
    - 1 Pot Steamed Chicken (another home recipe! Requires Sesame Oil, Salt/Pepper, Ginger, Soy sauce (very little)). Basically you cook your rice in a pot and when it's about halfway done (enough for you to barely see some loose grains poking up from the bubbles) drop in some Chinese Sausage (in halves) and your chicken you just covered in sesame oil/ginger, and cook the rest of the way.

    Speaking of maple syrup, combining it with Dijon mustard can make for a great salmon marinade.

    *Edited because I should probably note I'm lactose intolerant so the recipes that I've put up will generally not give anyone that also is LI an attack*

    Kat cannot cook. Kat has burnt water before and ruined a pan, but it's cool to see everyone else's recipes. :D (My husband does all the cooking.)

    It OK, Kat! :3 I never used to cook much either, and when I started again I was pretty bad at it. ^^;

    One time as a teenager I melted a plastic measuring cup full of uncooked rice because I turned on the wrong burner on the stove (i.e., not the one underneath the pot of water I was trying to heat up).

    Sal, those recipes sound amazing! Speaking of lactose intolerance, has anyone heard of the blog [url=http:

    //no-more-ramen.

    tumblr.

    com/:3v8aemx1]No More Ramen[/url:3v8aemx1]? My friend Andréa just told me about it, and it looks like it'd be really helpful for anyone with time and budget limitations.

    ^ That banana thing sounds amazing. *w*

    OK, so I just made this for my husband yesterday and he said it was awesome (I didn't try it 'cause I made it with ham, which I don't usually eat).  Before I made it, I was pretty sure it was gonna turn into one of those "Nailed it!" memes, but it actually wasn't that difficult.  Transmit eggs!

    That picture is making me hungry.

    I only know how to make pasta, so that's my favorite thing to cook. It's simple too and I feel like I accomplished so much boiling noodles for 10 minutes and then slapping in some canned sauce. How silly am I.

    ^ Naw, pasta is great!  For a while it was pretty much all we made for dinner before I started experimenting with other recipes.  Hard to go wrong with pasta. <3

    OK so this weekend I tried a couple of different things and my husband liked all of them, somehow.  One was this coconut chicken stuff and the other was chicken limoncello.  They're kinda similar process-wise (at least as far as frying the chicken) and I'd never tried that before so I'm surprised it came out not-terrible. (For the limoncello, I recommend pan frying the 'sparagus in some olive oil instead of steaming it, but that's just me.)  The coconut things especially are outrageous if you have them with the mango saaaaaauuuuce.

    This risotto is pretty good.  My husband hates lobster so I made it with chickens. :V  Also, the kale-tomato part is optional.  (I can never get my kale to cook evenly, so half of it comes out burnt and the other half is salad. orz )

    I despise cooking.  More than anything else in the world.  However, I love pastas and soups and salads and fajitas and such.  OH and I love pears with mayo and cheese.  Omnomnom.

    Yeah, I feel that.  I'm weird, though--I'll gladly go out of my way to cook for other people, but when it's just me I'm like, "Oh boy, cereal/pasta/leftovers for dinner again or I guess I could splurge and buy a sandwich! :D "  I dunno if it's because I'm lazy or there's a limited number of things I can actually eat on a regular basis without probable discomfort (TMI, IBS), but I only really enjoy cooking if there are other people around to appreciate it for me.

    However!  On that note, if you're like me and have some food sensitivity or not a lot of time/energy/resources to cook for yourself, blogs like lowspoonsfood and no-more-ramen might be helpful to you!

    lol ty. i just cook for me cuz i really get fed up hearing the crap. i put garlic powder & onion powder in omletes/scrambled eggs i think its good like that but theres always 'that tastes like crap! nobody puts that on eggs!' so what the hell xd its my food go away xd. i only cook for me. and much happier to do so without all that xd.

    the diet im on is low calories, no sugar, no flour, high protein. i make alot of eggs because its low calories & high protien & no sugar in them but im eating eggs twice a day & starting to burn me out tasteing it. lean meat & produce is good but only the cheapest stuff i can afford. candy has been looking good recently but i totally cant eat it without destroying my diet & workout effort.

    Y'all.  This recipe is pretty much the best thing ever, just saying. :V

    Not to be a Food Blogger on here but my husband's on a Low Carb Manly Man Workout Bro Diet and I have some kind of IBS-lactose intolerance-general food sensitivity clusterheck so it's been kind of a challenge finding things that both of us can eat.  Like, this actually makes pretty good pizza crust if you don't cut it up into chips.  You just gotta bake it for like 10-15 minutes and then throw all your pizza stuff on there and bake it again and it holds up better than the cauliflower stuff or whatever.

    Another super easy thing to do is get some brussels sprouts sliced in half and some walnuts and/or pecans, mix them up with honey and olive oil and bake that on a flat baking sheet until the green stuff is a little browned.  It's technically healthy, probably!
